Whispers of the Heart - Run To Me

One Sunday, in church, I wrote a song. I was sitting and not really listening, when suddenly certain words and phrases kept hitting me. It was like God was specifically saying "Hold onto this, you're going to need it in your future."

And boy was He right.

There have been days when I've needed to tell others to run.

There have been days where I needed to heed my own advice and turn from my sin and fall into the arms of my Savior.

There have been days when I felt like I was all alone, and that I was useless and worthless and how could be possibly forgive me.

And there have been days where I've said to myself, "No way, I can't go back to Jesus. I'm too much of a mess."

^Now that's just bad doctrine.

There's a song in the old hymnal I grew up with called "I Will Arise and Go to Jesus." It plays in my head whenever I think about returning and don't want to.

If you tarry 'till you're better
you many never come at all
I'm not going to get into the specifics. I had thought about it, but I don't think I need to. I've spent months deliberating over this blog post, and I think I've finally figured out what I'm trying to say, what I want to tell you.

Run.

Just turn, and run.

He forgives, that's what he does. He doesn't want to punish you. He doesn't want to give you a lecture. He just wants you back.

Like a kid who has disobeyed his parents, all his parents want them to do is come and tell them "Mom, dad, I hurt myself when I disobeyed you." Why do they want that? Not so they can laugh and make him suffer and say "I told you not to."

Just so they can heal the wound.

This is the song I wrote that Sunday. It's played on the piano with the violin in the background.

1.
I know exactly how you feel
because I’ve been there
remember

I became a man for you
as I will be
forever

and now you’re curled up on the floor
because you think that
I’ve left you

but do you realize I’m right here
with My arms out
to hold you…

**
Run to Me
when you've fallen to your knees
run to Me
I’m your Savior and High Priest
run to Me
let Me hold you in my arms and give you peace…
run to Me

2.
I’ve given you a way
to come home
accepted

I’m breaking down the walls
of a shaky
foundation

that’s blocking up your heart
from My love and
forgiveness

You’ve got to trust Me enough
to get
you through this

**
Run to Me
when you've fallen to your knees
run to Me
I’m your Savior and High Priest
run to Me
let Me hold you in my arms and give you peace…
run to Me

+++
Run away from temptation
run to Me
I’ve been praying forever
that you’ll run to Me
I love you so dearly
so much more than you think
run to Me
run to Me…

**
Run to Me
when you've fallen to your knees
run to Me
I’m your Savior and High Priest
run to Me
let Me hold you in my arms and give you peace…
run to Me

...
Let me hold you in my arms and give you everlasting never-ending peace…
run to me.
